Castle Cascadium Detail by Built4ever Castle Cascadium Detail by Built4ever
Pencil study of my Castle Cascadium from a previous sketch, this one is more detailed, mostly just line art with 2H pencil. Enjoy!

Really nice drawing. It has a nice balance of crookedness and straight lines. I like the design of this castle. Your style is very nice.

Thanks, that's a nice thought. Certainly, like music, there's capacity and ability for architectural drawing to inspire people and provoke an emotional response.

Gorgeous sketch. If you don't mind me asking what size paper did you do this on? 8.5X11?

You got it. Kept it tight and clean, no shading really. I might do a shaded one later...

Wow!
Very tight. That's a lot of detail for such a small canvas :D

Once again, great work.

Do you ever create models of the fabulous houses that you design?

No, not yet, but I've been tempted. I'm afraid I'll become a hermit if I try one. I built various wooden (balsa wood) and plastic aircraft and other models as a kid. The "skills" are still there, just not used for 30 yrs. My stuff is complex. It would take a lot of work!

I agree - your work is very complex.  It would take a lot of work, but could be very rewarding.  I'd love to see you give it a shot. *nudge, nudge*

I can completely sympathize with the worry about becoming a hermit.  Not only can I lose myself in miniatures for hours at a time, but I'm also an aspiring writer and spend hours putting the imaginary people in my head onto paper.  I was able to meet some old friends for coffee last weekend and laughed about how wonderful it was to see *real* people!  I think the key is to keep a great sense of humor and set up coffee dates frequently (and then be a hermit in-between).  *grins*

My coffee dates are with myself at the drawing table. I can have a good conversation with myself you know.

Yes, as a line drawing I can keep it "clean" vs. my other style. I use a sharp 2H pencil only, very tight lines. This is small too so you have to catch your breath and draw steady and focused.
