Alright, here's the second try at a mountain top village/castle, a little bigger and more ambitious than the first one. Pencil sketch, scanned, color-tweaked, cleaned up and labeled on the computer. Maybe this one can be the International Academy of Traditional Architecture! Late for class? Take her to the dungeon! Note: File changed out on Oct 31, 2012.
Your fantasy castles astound me. I think mine are pretty good yet you make me look like a beginner, and I have been drawing off and on for thirty years. You are an inspiration for me to reach higher goals, a master at what you do. It seems you have no end of talent, a professional achitect who draws fantasy castles as well. How I envy your skill.
Clayton: Thanks for the very kind words, glad you like my stuff. I took a quick peek at your Deviant site and other website, so I can see the connection there between our stuff. Your stuff looks more like 19th century woodcut illustrations. Mine is more detailed because, at least partly, I have the unfair advantage of being a practicing architectural designer, so I live and breathe this stuff. You're doing castles, towns, harbors, spectacular settings, etc, and writing a story about them. I'm going in that direction too, thinking of a story for each castle. I already have them linked together as "The Infinite Village," stretching across the entire planet.
I noticed that you incorporated pyramids into several of your drawings. Do you think that ancient pyramids on this planet were actually unknown technologies built by an advanced civilization?
I'm about to post yet another fantasy castle. It might be posted when you read this. I imagined it to be built upon the ruins of a giant, monumental construction, used for an unknown technological purpose, perhaps similar to ruins at Giza or Teotihuacan. I'm trying to evolve the architecture and setting in these drawings, but even more important, I'm trying to create a story. Since YOU'RE the expert on writing, having written three novels, I'm sure you can appreciate that!
My goodness thank you for the thoughtful response! To be honest, I think man creates his "Mysterious or Supernatural" beliefs because he wants so much for there to be such things. The mind outstreaches the reality-- but who is to say there is no supernatural and no "Advanced Alien life forms" out there. I have never come across one but maybe someone has. Plus I acutally believe in the power of prayer and the reverse-- the power of dark magic-- as well... All I have to say is don't look a witch woman sideways! Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. You really should consider illustrating a young people's fantasy story-- your work is TOTALLY evocative of a faraway land where adventure awaits!
Well, I have castle commissions for books, a book cover, game design concepts, all under my belt in last 6 months or so, plus more serious and bigger stuff in the works. I'd love to do a book, but maybe I need two books, one on "real" architectural design and one based on fantastic places.
As far as "evidence" goes, maybe try [link] or "Fingerprints of the Gods" or Velikovsky's books. These guys may or may not be right, but when an outsider to a field (for example, and engineer or a geologist instead of an Egyptologist) take a close look at the Giza site they reach some astounding conclusions that don't match up with the "official" story. I find that fascinating! But I agree that people "create" supernatural entities...
As far as the pyramids go: There have been many lost secrets, why not architectural ones? At one time, 3000 years ago, they figured out a way to BUILD those things without modern math (or with it) and perhaps even without the wheel. Then, they forgot how to do it for an age or two. I think with enough humans under the threat of death, we could build just about ANYTHING including a bridge to outer space. Fortunately, we dont threaten people like that at this time in our history. We have a merit system which is working pretty well. So I still have my doubts about ALIENS.I actually perfer the idea that there is DIVINE magic-- man is the center of the universe Because god made it that way. There is no intergalactic community of both good and evil aliens waiting out there for us to join. WE ARE IT. And our spirit is endless. WE are god, there is no god at the same time.
HMMMM I believe the Giza site was actually built 10 to 12,000 yrs ago, and the Egyptian civilization that we know built their civilization and monuments on top of what was already there, without really knowing what they were. Even 19th century British explorers thought the Giza pyramids were that old. Precision of architecture, extremely flat machined surfaces, lack of tomb drawings on the interior walls, don't really match up with official story. Sphinx has water erosion marks on it as examined by a geologist. Huge granite box inside pyramid has extreme precision to it, and tell-tale marks of ultrasonic grinder-like features in the corners. Impossible to do with primitive hand tools. What do we do with these anomalies? Disregard and stick to official story?
Now the bridge to outer space, I like that idea, I might have to draw a sketch of it he he...
You certainly know more about it than I do, I will granite you that. Like I said, though, I love the idea that we have seen rise and fall of cultures over the ages. There is just so much we dont know. But why would mondern historians want to hide the truth? Is that becuae they dont want to admit to being wrong for so long? Power tools of the ancient egyptians...What other mysteries are there? Crop circles and ancient landing fields imprinted on mountains? So much we dont know...Anomalies...always eating away at my comfort zone... Where is Atlantis in all of this?
Yes, maybe the earth pole shifted and Atlantis is actually Antarctica? Chew on that! He he ...a civilization buried under ice. Yes, people who have taught the same theories for years would never want to admit that they were flat wrong. People in ultimate power (organized religion, central bankers, etc) don't want competition, which would erode their authority, so they don't want us thinking that there are people or beings with higher technologies. Many archeological puzzles are put away in to drawers and ignored when they contradict established dogma. Same with geology.
Not long ago, we kinda scoffed at ideas of huge tidal waves crashing down and destroying entire civilizations. Now we all have watched it happen right on Youtube! Unbelievable things become believable. Why do the earliest calendars have 360 days, same "arbitrary" number used to mark degrees around a circle?
