Description
Original design for a classic Mediterranean style home with influences from 1920's era American Mediterranean and the rustic Tuscany style version popular here now. The Tuscan aspect is the rustic stonework. For budget purposes, it's desirable to limit stonework to the most important and visible views of a luxury home. Also, I always follow my rule of "light over heavy,) so stone work stays towards the bottom, with lightweight stucco above. "Real" stone over frame, as done here, is about 8 inches thick, while stucco is about 1 inch thick, both over a 2x6 wood stud frame, so the stone part of the wall is wider. The molding creates a transition point between materials. Roofing is ceramic barrel tile at a 4/12 pitch. Plenty of "wrought iron," (actually painted or powder coated steel,) including the rail system and gates.
This a re-working of my old House #309, improved and more dramatic.
Technique: Pencil study with 3H to 2B pencils on 8 and a half by 11 inch paper, scanned and slightly tweaked and cleaned up, and labeled with GIMP software. There's a floor plan in my gallery.
